Read moreGreen Mobilisation Initiative (GMI) is a sustainable environment and development-focused Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) based in Abuja, Nigeria. Established in 2010 and duly registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), GMI is committed to initiating and implementing development programmes that restore ecological balance and protect Nigeria’s biodiversity.
We work to reverse the damage caused by environmentally harmful activities such as indiscriminate bush burning, oil and gas exploitation, uncontrolled tree felling, excessive tillage operations, and human or animal-induced land degradation. Our interventions include tree planting campaigns, environmental sensitization, and technological solutions for issues like solid waste management, access to clean and renewable energy, global warming, ozone depletion, desertification, oil spillage, and climate change.
GMI engages all sectors of society, with a special focus on empowering local communities through participatory tools such as Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) and Participatory Learning and Action (PLA). These approaches promote sustainable livelihoods, grassroots capacity building, and community-led development.
To become a leading force in addressing Africa’s most pressing environmental challenges while fostering a harmonious relationship between people and their environment.
